Thought I'd keep a running blog on making the sound system as it is something I'm pretty new to - more of a studio person myself, but with playing tunes out more and more with the sound and having to do so on some well dodgy systems I decided to go ahead, work my **** off to get some money up and go and build my own.............. There are a series of fotos if you cick on the read more link
There are 3 sounds who are contributing to the system - Brainfood, Lionrootz and Jah Catalyst. Brainfood has sub bass 15 inch unit with two mid/top satelites. Lionrootz has 15 inch bass scoop and tweeter box with 4 bullets and 2 horns. Iam building a 15 inch scoop and 12 inch mids with horn. All in all comes to just over 3000 watts split up into 2000W of bass and 1000W of mid tops. The next step is to add an 18 inch scoop, but got enough to sort out before that, lol.......
The speakers are made out of 18mm birch ply (which is not light, lol). The speakers are Precision Device and Eminence with Beyma Tweeters.
We then have a couple of preamps with crossovers etc, and various sirens etc....
So this weekend me and me mate Jay set about getting it all together. Armed with a jigsaw, planer, drill, dowling plugs, screws and glue we set about sticking everything together. Had very few problems due to our relaxed state, lol, and a day later we had more or less finished the scoop and mid range cabs.
There is still some filing etc to be done, and they have to totally fry before I carry on with the electrics, but the hardest part of it has been done and well looking forward to starting work on the 18 inch scoop!!!!
You can check out a few fotos of the process at http://www.flickr.com/photos/47546679@N03/sets/72157623435162020/
Blessings, and I'll write more when electrics are sorted!
