| " Christian Cowlin hails from the beautiful countryside of southwest England. A self taught musician and sound engineer, Christian knew from an early age that his fascination with the sweet sounds of reggae music and blues would eventually lead him into the music industry and to it becoming a major part of his life. At 14, whilst listening to an album by Albert Lee, he picked up his first guitar, learned note for note and so began his musical journey. By 16, having developed his natural talents to compose and put musical ideas into reality, Christian formed his first reggae band Orange Street, with former Black Roots singer, Delroy Roots Ogilvie. During this time with Orange Street, playing venues around southwest England and London, Christian took a major interest in the production side of things. After 4 years he decided to quit the band to pursue this interest and secured a position as resident house engineer in a popular club in Devon. It was here in 2000 he met The Wailers, which, proved to be one of the most crucial meetings in Christians career advancement. That year he joined them on their European tour with a massive line up onstage of original members including, Al Anderson and Junior Marvin and continued to tour with the group in various capacities as sound engineer, keyboard player, production and tour manager until 2008 ???? Christian also toured as sound engineer with Gloria Gaynor, Boy George and The Skatalites on various european shows and since 2006 he worked between tours with renowned British group Aswad, where he is their first choice for their Live Dub mixing. Christians’ credits also includes studio mixing dub plates for Gregory Isaacs, Albarosie and Marcia Griffiths for a local Portsmouth sound system “Rooftop Sounds” In October 2008 Christian joined The Original Wailers, led by his former band mates Al Anderson and Junior Marvin where he played keyboards, and also tour managed and constantly workined behind the scenes to make the impossible happen! Christians’ work on ‘Justice’, TOW’s new album, includes writing some of the song rhythms and also playing organ and keyboards, he also played the bass and pick guitar work on the track Backsliders.
